This summer, genre-bending duo ZETRA release their new EP ‘From Within’. Combining the alchemistic with the futuristic, the EP is an exploration of a conceptual and timeless plague through melancholic, synth-laden soul-crushing missives. Written pre-pandemic but deemed too eerily-prophetic for immediate release, the shadowy duo found themselves in the once in a lifetime position of being able to instil the ominous atmosphere into the music as they were living it.

‘Pull Me Under’, the final offering from the EP, ties together the themes introduced by the previous releases into a crescendo of stoic acceptance in the face of Death’s inevitability. The prostrate attempts to beg Death for one more day in ‘Life Melts Away, pt.2’ are rejected; the protagonist’s attempts to wield Death as an instrument of control in ‘Care’ is condemned. Nothing at all can stand in the way of Death’s eventual conquering of Life. Two dark bookending instrumental tracks, ‘Life Melts Away, pt.1’ and ‘From Within’, are released alongside ‘Pull Me Under’ to complete the final EP.

ZETRA return to The Black Heart in Camden on September 29th.
